QR Codes made easy!

QR Code is a two-dimensional code made up of a pattern of typically two contrasting colours that when scanned optically provides an unique identifier. QR Code was invented in 1994 by Masahiro Hara at Japanese auto components supplier, Denso Wave, to facilitate speedy scanning and tracking of numerous and varied items within a complex supply chain.

The usage of QR codes is growing and its potential for its use in various innovative and imaginative ways for personal and business applications in a connected world is huge and limitless.

Dynamic vs Static QR codes

In a Static QR code the two-dimensional pattern and the destination that it links to are fixed. Whereas with a Dynamic QR code it is possible to keep the pattern fixed while changing the linked destination – this facilitates better efficiency especially in applications where resources with the QR code have already been committed. The same QR code could be redeployed without for example, changing already printed literature or published material.

Colours and Images

From the original black & white it is possible to create QR codes in colour – of course the contrast between the foreground and background colours should be sufficiently marked for better and error free scanning.

Logos and images can also be incorporated into the QR Code to give it a distinctive identity and draw better attention.
